Oklahoma: Of Water, Fireworks, and Magician's Hats

As I mentioned before, we visited Oklahoma this summer for July 4th.  The stampede was big enough that it deserved its own post, so this one is to cover the rest. We spent a lot of our time outdoors talking or eating while the kids played. (SPLAT! hahaha) We swam a lot - either in the pool or at the Lake. The boys made a habit of grabbing a popsicle out of the freezer when they were done swimming and eat it while sunbathing on the cement. I got to hold and get to know Monica's little Baby Emy.  She was so tiny compared to Cade! And I got to go grocery shopping with my mom.  Sounds silly, but that is and was my most favorite thing to do with my mom when I go home. On July 4th, the men of my family had a BLAST buying and setting off all sorts of fireworks that would be illegal in most states.  Gotta love Oklahoma for that!  We all sat in the backyard and watched the too-good-to-be-a-home show.  Simply said, it was awesome.  Eac...

A Torrie Stampede!

Way back in July we went to Oklahoma for July 4th.  (Yes, I am just now catching up on all this...)  Turns out we went there for more than just fireworks!  My mom is amazing.  She organized and put on a whole Stampede for the family to do one evening.  Here's some things we did: 1.  Equip everyone in the proper attire, mainly cowboy hats, bandannas, and some rad mustaches. 2.  Grab a wheelbarrow or red wagon and have a race. 3.  Have a wild, wild west shoot-out 4.  Grab a pony and saddle up for some barrel racing 5.  Rope a steer with the Great Grandpa Torrie's brand on it 6. Whack a pinata in the shape of a cowboy boot and reap the rewards for a rootin' tootin' good time had by all!

Mom's One Line A Day - July

1 - It's so nice being here in Oklahoma.  Aiden is getting so tan while Sam is getting so red. :)  I've been giving them swim lessons every day.  Hopefully they can doggie paddle by the time we go home. 2 - Sam likes to cuddle with Gwamma in bed every morning.  She was drinking her ritual Mountain Dew and Sam asked if he could try some.  She handed the bottle to him and he inspected it.  First, he put his eye right in the opening to look at it.  Then he sniffed it and declared, "It th'mells like chicken bwof!" 3 - Cade has cut 3 teeth in one week.  And he's only   slightly  less smiley.  Such a happy baby! 4 - My brothers, Rex, and Dad put on quite the fireworks show for everyone tonight.  For safety, they told the kids not to cross a certain line in the cement.  When Mason noticed Aiden jumping on the trampoline and scolded him for crossing the line, Aiden said, "But I didn't cross the line!  I wal...
