Project Basement is Underway!
After years of dreaming of building a home theater, Rex has finally got his chance! With the help of Uncle Sam, we are now starting to finish the basement, which will house the theater, a craft/storage room, and a full bathroom. Rex has been awesome - he's been planning scrupulously on AutoCad every detail of the basement for the last several months. What a multi-talented husband I have!
Rex's brother, Taylor, came and helped get Rex started. He was like a kid in a candy store getting to use so many power tools after months of studying at college. Taylor only stayed a few short days, but they got so much done in that time!
Here's a shot of what we have so far of the theater. Notice the lovely fireplace in the corner (I'm really excited about that!) My craft room is where the chop-saw is in this picture (aren't you impressed with my handyman lingo?? I know I am) and the storage closet will be where those black shelves are.
Behold the POWER! Rex was very excited to buy his very own nail gun, complete with some totally rad eye protectors. Seriously, those are work glasses. Men are so funny...
Last night we were all down in the basement helping out. Sam, once again, was supervisor and Aiden helped hammer anything and everything. Rex taught me how to use the chop-saw and I measured and cut a bunch of wood after the kids went to bed. It was a really cool bonding experience - probably the best, quality date we've had in a while! I'm going to sound like my parents when I say this, but working hard really does bring a family closer together.
And we'll just end on that cheesy note. We'll keep you posted of our progress!
