Look Who's One!!

Today was Sam's first birthday! Here are some videos - mostly for family members who couldn't make it and don't mind watching 15 minutes' worth of our day. For those who do not want to watch the entire videos, you can look at the pictures and get the idea.

We started Sam's birthday with some good ol' fashioned balloons all over the floor.

Look at that tongue! We went outside to eat chicken enchiladas, cornbread, grapes, and corn on the cob with Mike, Dixie, and Marti (Rex's family.) Sam got a really cool kiddy pool for his birthday... which he did NOT want to go in once it had water.

And look at those cankles!

And we had a mini bubble machine to blow bubbles over the pool. Aiden LOVES bubbles. And Sam... well, he thinks they're all right. He'll get there.

Pretty soon our little family party became a neighborhood pool party. Funny story. When I went to put warm water in the pool (it was FREEZING!) the girl, quite politely, asked me if it was okay if she could pee in the pool. Uhhh.... NO. But thanks for asking. :)

Sam had quite an unexpected reaction to the cake. He HATED it. What's wrong with this kid?? What kid doesn't like birthday cake? He couldn't figure out why we were all staring and smiling at him and he thought us singing to him was even more weird. Poor, self-conscious Sam.

Aiden, on the other hand, couldn't get enough cake and threw quite the fit when we told him he couldn't have any more. Talk about complete opposites.

Then Sam "opened" his presents. That went a little better than the cake did. He got some pool/bath toys since he LOVES the water (as long as it's warm.) We sure love our smiley, ticklish, mellow, happy, cuddly, rolly-polly little Sambo!!
