LOST
Yes, we lost Aiden today. And this is where we found him - asleep in the garage in his kiddy pool.
Imagine Rex driving around in the van and me on foot yelling "AIDEN!" while combing all possible corners of the neighborhood. Then neighbors coming out of their houses to help. Kids yelling Aiden's name out as they're riding their scooters around the block. Searching every closet, every corner, and every hiding place. Every time I saw Rex empty-handed when we crossed paths, my heart sunk a little bit deeper.
Talk about the WORST feeling in the world.
After he had been missing an hour we were about to call the police, but as I opened the garage to let a neighbor into our house so she could watch Sam while we looked, she said, "Oh, there he is!" Yup, there was Aiden sleeping soundly in a 100 degree garage in his waterless pool.
After giving him some water and laying him down in his bed, all was well. I love our neighborhood and how willing every one was to help look for Aiden. And I really really am grateful that we didn't lose our son today. Sure Aiden can be a handful, but we absolutely LOVE him and would be devastated if we had lost him. So all is well that ends well.
And on a side note... after all this happened we still had a babysitter scheduled to come over for our date night. So we dropped her off at the house, left our kids, and went to the movie theater. Once we got there, Rex pulls out his wallet and realizes that Aiden had taken out all of his credit cards earlier in the day. So we had to head back home, find the credit cards, and find another theater to go to.
Bless that child.
