Of This and That
Just a little snatch into what usually goes on around our house these days...
We spend as much time as we can outside playing on the days that allow us to. Aiden has got the hang of his big boy bike and Sam is very jealous of it. But they both have fun and we get plenty of sunshine for the winter.
Sam always picks out the best treats when he's in charge of the basket.
There's a spot in our neighborhood that doesn't get a lot of sun so when it snows, barely melts, and then freezes again it forms a giant ice rink in front of several houses. So one day we all went out there and helped break the ice together as a neighborhood. That's my friend Stacy below with the pick axe. This was some serious ice - about 8" in some places!!
This is my garden experiment this year - mini greenhouses made from milk jugs. The seeds will freeze and thaw and freeze and so forth until Spring comes when I can open them up and water them again. Supposedly, this makes for some strong plants that can handle being transplanted much better than the seeds started indoors variety. I'll let you know how it works when the time comes...
When my mom calls me, she usually gets to talk to Aiden or Sam on the phone for a couple minutes. Even though they usually don't say much, they LOVE it. Sam loves it so much that he pretends to talk to Grandma on the "phone" - which is the metronome ticking away. When he's done "talking" he says "bu-bye!" and turns off the clicking. It's pretty cute.
It's always depressing when we do our Costco shopping and try to cram everything into a cart, when we end up having to use a flatbed because the cashier thinks we overdid it...whoops.
This was the result of a blizzard that hit us a couple weeks ago. It snowed for 24 hours straight and we ended up with about two feet of snow. The snow piles in our neighborhood were ginormous!
And, boy, was I glad that Rex was here this week to help with the shoveling! I think it would have killed me otherwise!
I just love that my boys love playing together. They are so goofy and quite imaginative when they play. But, of course, always very tough and manly as well. :)
This is Sam's "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" move. How ferocious.
