Mom's One Line A Day - January
1 - Spent the first day of the year taking Rex to the airport and cleaning the house. Off to a good start... I think.
2 - Aiden is SO excited for his birthday on Saturday. He asks every morning if it's his birthday yet.
3 - Cade had a fever of 102.8 so I took him to the ER. Now we're at the hospital treating him for mild pneumonia.
4 - At the hospital with Cade still. Rex flew in this morning because of the emergency.
5 - Happy Birthday, Aiden! Five Years Old!! I couldn't make the party, but Aiden took me down the slide at Monkey Bizness vicariously through Face Time on the iPhone with him.
6 - Aiden is taking his role of the Five Year Old of the house very seriously. He comes downstairs dressed and helps Sam with his clothes. Whenever I compliment him on being a big boy for doing something good he says, "That's because I'm five. FIVE!!" while yelling that last part. :)
7 - First group piano lesson today! I had a lot of fun using a new method on my 4 guinea pigs. :)
8 - So glad school started for the boys. I loved the break, but I love the schedule more.
9 - Managing to kept the house clean using my schedule on the fridge. Go OCD.
10 - I've hired our neighbor's son to watch the boys while I teach piano. They love Jared and watch the clock until it's time for him to come.
11 - I love my days off from taking the boys to school and from teaching piano in the afternoon. This results in no make-up and yoga pants. Ahh...
12 - Took down the outside Christmas lights with Rex. It was FREEZING! Literally. About 6 degrees.
13 - Rex: Hey Sweetheart? (talking to me)
Sam: Yeth?
Rex: You're not my sweetheart!
Sam: Oh yeth I am!
14 - Took Rex to the airport this morning. Again.
15 - Aiden ran into the parking lot after school and almost got hit by a truck. As punishment, he didn't have his after school treat (which is why he ran to the van.) He was very upset and kept declaring, "I want my daddy!"
16 - Cade was very fussy last night. Everything seems harder on little sleep. And Sam told me today that graham crackers are not a special treat after school. Being a mom is hard.
17 - Hooray! Rex is home! It's been so lonely and exhausting without him. This traveling every week gig is going to do me in.
18 - Rex and I were laughing and talking when Aiden walked in and said, "Stop laughing. You're ruining my life!" Where does he pick this stuff up from??
19 - We had an amazing dinner of homemade pizza and homemade donuts with the missionaries, McKae and Anthony tonight. Rex is one amazing chef.
20 - I love being in Primary with my boys. I get to see Aiden singing so loud that his face turns red and Sam singing "I Am A Child of God" robot style. Priceless.
21 - I've found myself stressing out too much about keeping the house clean and having everything in order. Those things are good, but I need to be better at having down time so I am a happier person.
22 - Cade has the happiest smiles now and some cute little giggles every once in a while. He's getting so big so fast! I don't think I can call him a newborn anymore.
23 - Poor Aiden got five shots today. He was NOT happy so I got him and Sam cookies at Chick-Fil-A. He told me after driving away that he doesn't like said cookies, so I got him a milkshake. At least Sam was happy and covered in chocolate.
24 - Evidence I need to discuss nutrition with the boys:
Doctor: What kind of vegetables do you eat?
Aiden: Cookies... dinner... fruit
Doctor: Oh fruit? What kind of fruit?
Aiden: Lettuce...
25 - Rex and I were watching a movie and could tell that Sam had snuck out of bed and was watching with us from the stairs. He was so shocked to find out that we knew he was there the entire time even tho, "I not talk!!"
26 - Cade gave me his first happy Good Morning! dance and smile. I didn't realize how much I've missed that!
27 - Aiden tooted quite loudly in the kitchen.
Sam: (giggling) You tooted, Aiden!
Aiden: No I didn't. It was a horse. The horse tooted.
(I think it goes without mentioning that there was no horse in sight.)
28 - Gotta love the days when I send the boys to school with no coats because it's nice and warm, only to have it start snowing halfway through the day...
29 - Sam colored himself with green marker all over his legs, arms, hands, and face this morning just in time to go to school. Crayola "Washable" markers are SO not washable.
30 - The boys have a favorite "Guess What?" game where they ask the magic question and then answer with a combination of two random words. "Honkey Tonk!" "Chicken House!" "Honey Horse!" "Noodle Boat!" "Fruitie Patootie!"
31 - Cade is such a chunker now! He's getting too heavy for his swing, unless it's on the highest setting. LOVE THE CHUB!

"You're not my sweetie!"
"Oh yeth I am!"
That kid is hilarious!!!!!
I also like how Aiden has become an expert about everything now that he's five...FIVE! :)
