Happy 6th Birthday, Aiden-da-Bear!

Look at this happy boy!!  Thanks to Pinterest, we were able to throw Aiden a fun Lego birthday party with lots and lots of friends (including 3 unexpected, self-invited kids from the neighborhood!)  Rex was a huge help while I tried to accommodate the extra mouths to feed.  He led all the group games with the boys and kept them entertained.  After all the games the kids had snacks and then cake and ice cream.  But this post isn't about the party - it's about the BOY!!!!  Here are some things that we love about Aiden at this great stage:

1.)  Aiden is a firecracker! He absolutely loves life and shows his enthusiasm to the max.  

2.)  Aiden absolutely LOVES to dance.  He has always danced since being a toddler, but he's really starting to come into his own now that his repertoire of music is expanding.  (This is the reason we gave him my old shuffle with some headphones for his birthday.)  His current favorite band is Daft Punk. No joke. 




3.) Aiden - needless to say - is very good at legos.  He creates his own cars, boats, rocket ships, laser beams... you name it!  I love his creativity.  I'm excited to see what kind of man he turns out to be.

4.) Aiden is a deep thinker.  He often asks me pretty deep questions on the way to school - like where did God come from? And how do you make cheese?




5.) Aiden's favorites right now: the color green, video games, Sonic the Hedgehog, Legos, Legos, and more Legos.










And this is the face of a kid in sheer heaven.  We love you, Aiden Bear!

Oh my goodness! Each picture I saw I thought, "This is the best one!" then I saw the next one and thought the same thing. He's such a wonderful little guy!

Sam Richard Phillips

Here we are: the excited, tired, relieved parents of lil' Sam the Man. For those of you who don't know and are interested, I had Sam 7 weeks early. We think it happened because I had a marginal placenta previa (prone to excessive bleeding) and I had pushed myself while packing and getting ready for the big move. I have a hard time taking things easy apparently... Sam had a hard time breathing in the beginning. Within just a few days, however, he made a championship comeback and went from being on the respirator, to the CPAP (shown), to just the little nose thing that gives oxygen (same thing old men have.) He also had to get fed from a tube through his nose starting on the 2nd day. As you can see here, though, he proved himself again and got the tube removed to eat normally. What a man! Would you look at that hair! It's so blond it almost looks gray. It's also more hair than his older brother Aiden has now. I just can't get over how tin...

**DISCLAIMER** If you do not have children or have a weak stomach or are deciding whether or not to have children... you probably shouldn't read this post. And if you've been wondering about my parenting skills from the last couple posts, this one doesn't help my repertoire. It all started when I wanted to have a "Good Mommy Moment" and made chocolate pudding with Aiden before his nap. I told him that as soon as he woke up, the pudding would be done. So I put Aiden and Sam both down for their afternoon naps. It didn't last long. First, Aiden never went to sleep so I got him out after an hour or so. I gave him his pudding at the table, determined to keep a close watch on him so he'd keep his pudding in the kitchen. Then Sam started screaming.
