Merry Christmas!

I love this picture.  Sam pushed Cade out of the way so he could be first to go down the stairs, but you would never guess that by his sweet little smile he put on for the camera.

We had to wake Aiden up at 7:30, and even then he still has sleepy eyes!


Sam got the Lego Rancor Pit from Santa

Cade got a scooter just his size.

Aiden got a K'Nex roller coaster kit that he set up later with Rex.  It even runs a little coaster with two guys on it through the whole course!


Both the boys got Lego headlamps and candy canes, which they promptly turned into guns.

Cade got a play doh kit which he just couldn't get enough of.

Aiden got some spy goggles which he has been wearing constantly for almost a week now. He thinks he's pretty awesome in them. :-)

And Rex got some fun gadgets - a bluetooth shower speaker, a bluetooth alarm clock that does everything that an alarm clock shouldn't have to worry about, some cooking books and tools, and new clothes.  

I don't know why, but I got hardly any pictures of Sam this Christmas.  Bad Mom!  He got a lego treehouse kit and a rocket launcher.  Those were his top two favorites, as you can see in the picture below.  He wanted to take them along with him to Grandma Dixie's house. :-)



Then we had the extended family gift exchange at Rex's parents' home.  Fun times.  I think you can tell by Aiden's expression here that it was totally the BESTEST day ever!!

Some Time Away in Paradise

Rex and I went to Maui, Hawaii together, just the two of us!  It's times like this when we get to see the value of him traveling so much - the plane trip and hotel were completely paid for with points.  Cha-ching!  Rex totally spoiled me too.  The Mariott we stayed in was fit for a king and queen - a humongous tub, fully stocked kitchen, big comfy bed, an amazing breakfast buffet every morning, a tropical paradise of pools and hot tubs and beautiful flowers every where... a girl could get used to this.   We spent the first night and morning cramming in some homework for our scuba-diving certification class.  The next 2 days were spent at the scuba shop and in the ocean, passing off drills and skills needed to not-die.  And good news.  We did not die and completely lost ourselves underwater looking at the beautiful fish and eels and turtles around us.  Okay, just one turtle.  But it was pretty memorable!  I didn...

Mist of Darkness

So now that I have finally caught up with my blogging, I feel that I need to explain where I've been. This blog is mainly for journal purposes, so just ignore this post if it makes you uncomfortable. I've known that I've struggled with depression for five years now. I've been in some dark places in my life with horrible thoughts and temptations, but it's been under control for the most part. I've been "missing" for the past 2 months because I was slowly spiraling downwards without realizing it. True, I never had any suicidal thoughts this last time (maxing out your Zoloft should have SOME kind of effect) but I started losing interest in the things that usually make me happy. Blogging. Creativity. Photography. My family. Sunshine. With the winter, it seemed that everything had turned gray and dead, and not just the plants. Surrounded by Handsomeness

      We christened the new van by going on TWO road trips this month. The first was to Oklahoma (and I guess, technically, Branson, MO as well) and the next weekend was to Utah to celebrate Rex's sister's wedding! So so so happy for her and her new hubby.  We got our first picture as a family with EVERYONE wearing a suit, well, except me of course. What handsome men surround me!
