April 2015
While trying to make Cade a PB&J sandwich one day, he kept whining and pulling at my legs and arms until I finally gave up and said, "Fine! You make your own sandwich!" And ya know what? He did! It was too adorable so I recorded what I could.
The sleep strike with Cade continued this month. He refuses to sleep in his own bed during the day. At first, if he fell asleep in the car (which happened every day) I'd try to lay him down in bed. Immediately he'd wake up and wouldn't go back to sleep and be cranky the rest of the day. So then I realized if I just held him after his usual car ride nap, he'd stay asleep for another 30 minutes or so. The only downside to that was me holding him for 30 minutes! I got him to lay down ONCE in his own bed during the day. It was very glorious.
The no nap thing wouldn't be as bad if Cade would just SLEEP a full 8 hours at night. He STILL (and this is to date) wakes up during the night and won't go back to sleep unless I am within 1 foot of him.
I. Am. Exhausted.
And because of this sleep struggle, Cade is super cranky during the day. Grocery shopping has been like a torture chamber for both of us. He screams bloody murder and wiggles out of the seat buckle (no matter how tight it is) like a possessed mini Houdini. So then I give up and let him sit in the cart. But nooooo. Still not good enough. As you can tell from this picture, I am the worst mother in the world. How dare I imprison my youngest child in the grocery cart for a quick trip around the store!
On another note, we got some mega snow this month and built our first snowman this winter. Aiden was super proud of it. He even made his snowman look like he had a pet turtle (a sand toy.) Unbeknownst to us, some neighborhood boys moved the snowman's nose from the north pole to the south... if you catch my drift. I know I should have been horrified, but it was pretty darn funny... in an awful kind of way. I took off the snowman's accessories after that in case temptation struck again.
Cade has been on a car kick. Whenever we walk through a parking lot, he examines the cars up close and personal. He strokes the wheels and peers into the exhaust pipes. Maybe he'll be an auto mechanic one day...?
The Lego Americana Exhibit came to the Park Meadows Mall one weekend and the boys could hardly believe their eyes. It was super impressive and very motivational to 2 very creative, imaginative boys.
