School. Is. Out. For... the Summer!

Sam showed some real creativity this time for Crazy Hair Day with the cotton balls and hair gel.  Cade - as usual - wanted his picture taken too and showed us his diva side. :-D




Aiden was really enthusiastic about Field Day this year. hahaha


Cade is so adorable.  He tries so hard to be a good boy.  He wanted to take out the trash one night for a "point" even though the bag was as big as he was.  And every time it's his time to say the prayer he scrunches up his nose and asks, "What I say again?"


This shows the stark difference between Aiden and Sam when in front of a crowd.  Both were called up for an award of excellence - Sam stoically walked up to the front to receive it, and Aiden did a victory dance before running up to get his.


The Spring Recital and Awards Ceremony went great.  I have taught these sisters ever since we moved here, and two aren't even pictured.  Aiden and Sam did great, too!  Aiden likes to look up in the easy parts and smile at the audience.  What a performer.  :-)



Cade graduated from preschool for the first year.  He'll be back at it next school year.  Cade is such a little cutie and is quite an influence on the other kids.  If Cade decides that pink is the coolest color ever, he'll show so much enthusiasm for anything pink that pretty soon all the kids want pink construction paper for all their projects too!



And with summer starting we took advantage of having a neighborhood pool and went almost every day the first week of summer.  I love how the boys take time to sunbathe before its time to go.  Cooper sunbathes in his own way... shade-bathes?  Either way, I just can't get enough cute pictures of him sleeping.

Some Time Away in Paradise

Rex and I went to Maui, Hawaii together, just the two of us!  It's times like this when we get to see the value of him traveling so much - the plane trip and hotel were completely paid for with points.  Cha-ching!  Rex totally spoiled me too.  The Mariott we stayed in was fit for a king and queen - a humongous tub, fully stocked kitchen, big comfy bed, an amazing breakfast buffet every morning, a tropical paradise of pools and hot tubs and beautiful flowers every where... a girl could get used to this.   We spent the first night and morning cramming in some homework for our scuba-diving certification class.  The next 2 days were spent at the scuba shop and in the ocean, passing off drills and skills needed to not-die.  And good news.  We did not die and completely lost ourselves underwater looking at the beautiful fish and eels and turtles around us.  Okay, just one turtle.  But it was pretty memorable!  I didn...

Mist of Darkness

So now that I have finally caught up with my blogging, I feel that I need to explain where I've been. This blog is mainly for journal purposes, so just ignore this post if it makes you uncomfortable. I've known that I've struggled with depression for five years now. I've been in some dark places in my life with horrible thoughts and temptations, but it's been under control for the most part. I've been "missing" for the past 2 months because I was slowly spiraling downwards without realizing it. True, I never had any suicidal thoughts this last time (maxing out your Zoloft should have SOME kind of effect) but I started losing interest in the things that usually make me happy. Blogging. Creativity. Photography. My family. Sunshine. With the winter, it seemed that everything had turned gray and dead, and not just the plants. Surrounded by Handsomeness

      We christened the new van by going on TWO road trips this month. The first was to Oklahoma (and I guess, technically, Branson, MO as well) and the next weekend was to Utah to celebrate Rex's sister's wedding! So so so happy for her and her new hubby.  We got our first picture as a family with EVERYONE wearing a suit, well, except me of course. What handsome men surround me!
