Our boy is communicating!!!
When Aiden was about 4 months old, I was determined to try and teach him sign language. After a couple months' worth of blank, apathetic stares I fizzled out. I'd sign here and there, but not consistently. Well, in the past couple weeks, Aiden finally started to sign back!! We are absolutely THRILLED. When he starts to get fussy at his high chair, we go in there and ask what he wants. He'll then sign "Up" (pointing upwards with the pointy finger) or "More" for more food. It is absolutely wonderful. He still doesn't have "eat", "milk", or "drink" down, but we are definitely motivated again to try harder!
So about this video. The other day when it was rainy (aka absolute torture for an active toddler) I let Aiden go outside on the patio, even if he did get wet. It was worth his happiness. And mine. He figured out how to climb onto an overturned tubberware bin and loved the new dimension. I'd check on him every once in a while to see if he was all right, and he was happy as a lark 'talking' at the people/cars/birds/whatever going by. After about 30 minutes of this, I checked on him again because he was a lot quieter than before. He was still standing on the bin but frantically signing "up" because he couldn't get down. So being the good mother I am, I hurry and grab the camera first before rescuing my child.

Hey this whole time I thought his name was pronounced, A-den, not like I-din. Interesting!
