MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Hey everyone, it's Rex. Even though the URL for this blog is http://rexandedda.blogspot.com, you and I both know the my name was added just to be nice. So I usually only post when Edda is in someway incapacitated. And she is, because . . . SHE RAN AND FINISHED THE MARATHON!

Our darling, wonderful, incredibly awesome Edda did it, and she did it well. I don't have any of the photos on hand, but they'll be posted soon enough. And like most first time marathon runners, she is currently in a world of hurt. Interesting enough, the only part of her that doesn't hurt is her leg. You know, the one that has so far cost about $300 in medical bills.

Some of the details, in bullet point form (because consultants treasure our bullet points):
  • My wonderful mother agreed to watch the boys for the weekend. This let us fly instead of drive, which was so wonderful
  • Shauna (my sister-in-law) arranged to let the entire Torrie clan (Edda's fam) use her grandmother's empty house. It was wonderful!
  • In attendance were Edda's mother, sister, bro-in-law, brother, sis-in-law, and nephew. Everyone had a blast (and no one slept)
  • Edda's insanely cool brother, Mark, was by Edda's side the entire race. He's a bit faster than she and could have had a much better time, but he stuck with her all the way. Thank you
I'm proud of my wife. She's an amazing piano teaching, math tutoring, mega canning, wild child taming, marathon running, incredible hot and sexy woman. She works so incredibly hard and is amazing at everything she does.

Congratulations! But really, after playing with your boys for two days I would hardly say this is your first marathon! Maybe just the first one that gave you a medal. :) Great Job!!!

Rex and I went to Maui, Hawaii together, just the two of us!  It's times like this when we get to see the value of him traveling so much - the plane trip and hotel were completely paid for with points.  Cha-ching!  Rex totally spoiled me too.  The Mariott we stayed in was fit for a king and queen - a humongous tub, fully stocked kitchen, big comfy bed, an amazing breakfast buffet every morning, a tropical paradise of pools and hot tubs and beautiful flowers every where... a girl could get used to this.   We spent the first night and morning cramming in some homework for our scuba-diving certification class.  The next 2 days were spent at the scuba shop and in the ocean, passing off drills and skills needed to not-die.  And good news.  We did not die and completely lost ourselves underwater looking at the beautiful fish and eels and turtles around us.  Okay, just one turtle.  But it was pretty memorable!  I didn...

So now that I have finally caught up with my blogging, I feel that I need to explain where I've been. This blog is mainly for journal purposes, so just ignore this post if it makes you uncomfortable. I've known that I've struggled with depression for five years now. I've been in some dark places in my life with horrible thoughts and temptations, but it's been under control for the most part. I've been "missing" for the past 2 months because I was slowly spiraling downwards without realizing it. True, I never had any suicidal thoughts this last time (maxing out your Zoloft should have SOME kind of effect) but I started losing interest in the things that usually make me happy. Blogging. Surrounded by Handsomeness

      We christened the new van by going on TWO road trips this month. The first was to Oklahoma (and I guess, technically, Branson, MO as well) and the next weekend was to Utah to celebrate Rex's sister's wedding! So so so happy for her and her new hubby.  We got our first picture as a family with EVERYONE wearing a suit, well, except me of course. What handsome men surround me!
