Our Love Story - by Rex
A friend of ours asked me (Edda) to write down Rex and my love story and bring a picture of our wedding day for an activity she was doing with all the kids at church. (I think it was a "Guess Who's Love Story This Is" game.) Rex is much more eloquent than I and, oddly enough, remembers more details about our story than I do. So while I kept the kids entertained during the first part of church, Rex wrote away on a piece of notebook paper the story of our beginning together. Here it is:
"Once upon a time there was a boy. One day this boy met a girl in church. He thought she was pretty and she must have been clever because she laughed at his jokes. Over the next few months he did all sorts of things to impress her. He even hung out with her mom and painted water colors.
Finally she agreed to date him. They dated for three great weeks and then she dumped him. In the middle of a road trip. While he was sick. They then got back together and she dumped him again. Seriously.
They eventually became friends again. She was dating a weird guy and the boy was working hard to do well in school. This went on until one day the boy found out that the girl was no longer dating the weird guy. The boy started bringing her dinner and they went on a couple dates. This went on until one day she volunteered to help him throw a party.
The day of the party she didn't come [I had forgotten about it]. Instead she went on a date with a totally different guy. The boy threw the party and when everyone sat down to watch a movie he called the girl. It turned out that her date got sick and she was home alone (because her roommates were at his party.) He went to her apartment and told her he loved he and asked for two more dates. If she didn't love him after two dates he'd move away. She agreed because she thought it was a good way to get rid of him [finally].
The week before the first date she told him every night she'd dump him, but when he took her dancing he forgot to let go of her hand and she didn't try to take it back. By the second date she was in love. Two weeks later they were engaged. Three months later they were married."
The End
