This was a loaded day.  First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONICA!  Yes, you come first.  But after that, came Aiden and Sam's Taekwando tournament.  Then a car ride to the airport and dropping off the boys at their Aunt McKenzie's house, and THEN.... drum roll please... our Chinese New Year Party!

While waiting for the tournament to start, the boys warmed up on the gym floor.  

Sam performed first.  His test consisted of an obstacle course (his tongue was out the whole time. hahaha cracks me up!) and then a block and kicking test.  There was only him and this other kid in the same level, so of the two contestants, Sam got 2nd place!  Yay!!! :-D

He went from having a "tough dude" face to an over-the-moon smile when he got the trophy.


Sam was so excited about his trophy.  He wanted me to take a picture of all the "thparkles" on it. :)  While we waited for Aiden to go, Sam entertained himself with the trophy.  It became a rocket ship, an elephant trunk, a baby's bottle...






Turns out we had to wait for a long time for Aiden to go.  Turns out, he didn't hear his name called and missed his age group.  There was a moment when he began to get upset that he was waiting so long.  That's when I went over to him (and not just spy on him with my incredible zoom lens) to see what was going on.  One of the leaders pulled a few strings and got Aiden to perform in his own class.  So, out of a group of one... Aiden got first place!!  hahaha This momma is so gosh darn proud. :)


  





 After the tournament, I rushed around and finally made it to the party.  Thankfully Rex got a ride from a friend and was already there and cooking.  We ended up having about 54 people attend and had a complete blast seeing it all finally happen!  I was on such a high.  Turns out I'm an extrovert and love planning parties.  Who knew???









Good job, Babe.  We make the perfect party-throwing team!

Holy cow! Sam cracks me up with his tongue! I am just so darn proud of those two little doofers!

Rex and I went to Maui, Hawaii together, just the two of us!  It's times like this when we get to see the value of him traveling so much - the plane trip and hotel were completely paid for with points.  Cha-ching!  Rex totally spoiled me too.  The Mariott we stayed in was fit for a king and queen - a humongous tub, fully stocked kitchen, big comfy bed, an amazing breakfast buffet every morning, a tropical paradise of pools and hot tubs and beautiful flowers every where... a girl could get used to this.   We spent the first night and morning cramming in some homework for our scuba-diving certification class.  The next 2 days were spent at the scuba shop and in the ocean, passing off drills and skills needed to not-die.  And good news.  We did not die and completely lost ourselves underwater looking at the beautiful fish and eels and turtles around us.  Okay, just one turtle.  But it was pretty memorable!  I didn...

Mist of Darkness

So now that I have finally caught up with my blogging, I feel that I need to explain where I've been. This blog is mainly for journal purposes, so just ignore this post if it makes you uncomfortable. I've known that I've struggled with depression for five years now. I've been in some dark places in my life with horrible thoughts and temptations, but it's been under control for the most part. I've been "missing" for the past 2 months because I was slowly spiraling downwards without realizing it. True, I never had any suicidal thoughts this last time (maxing out your Zoloft should have SOME kind of effect) but I started losing interest in the things that usually make me happy. Blogging. Surrounded by Handsomeness

      We christened the new van by going on TWO road trips this month. The first was to Oklahoma (and I guess, technically, Branson, MO as well) and the next weekend was to Utah to celebrate Rex's sister's wedding! So so so happy for her and her new hubby.  We got our first picture as a family with EVERYONE wearing a suit, well, except me of course. What handsome men surround me!
