We went to McKenzie's graduation in May and went to a baseball game afterwards... where it poured.

I got the best mother's day card from Aiden.



I got this picture in a text during church from the nursery leader. :-)



Cade has started learning how to pray by repeating any word he hears (from the actual person giving the prayer) in a cute high, airy voice while scrunching up his eyes.  It's adorable!




Cade also went to the dentist for the first time.  He was quite chillaxed and tricked the dentist into giving him lots of drinks with the water squirter.



We bought a new car this month.




Aiden was the big bad wolf in his first grade class's readers theater.  He was very dramatic and a great actor!



Found this note laying on the counter from Aiden to give to Master Lee, his Taekwando master.



Cade helps me grocery shop.  He insists on holding the basket and wouldn't let me help him at all.  If I put something too heavy in it for him, he'd hand it to me.  So really, by the end, I was holding more things than were in the basket.  What we do to humor our children...



I woke up one morning with a locked jaw.  It is still locked to this day.  I went to the chiropractor multiple times, the dentist, and the doctor.  Next step is surgery.  Joy.



I ran a 5 mile race with some ladies in the ward.  Super fun and sweaty.



Aiden and Sam fell asleep with their light on one night.  I'm so glad they're such good friends.



I love finding Aiden's homeword.  My favorite part is the very first sentence: "I went to a place better than ever called Utah."  hehehe




The boys helped me plant the garden before leaving for Oklahoma.

Cade and I have a system now.  When he wakes up in the middle of the night - EVERY NIGHT - he knows to lay down on the bed of pillows I have already laid out for him before going to sleep.  I wake up to him like this.  Every.  Morning.



Sam is on a peanut butter and jam sandwich kick.  He eats one or two for breakfast, then two more for lunch...


While driving to Oklahoma we passed through an incredible storm.  While the storm was approaching, the clouds were AMAZING!

Some Time Away in Paradise

Rex and I went to Maui, Hawaii together, just the two of us!  It's times like this when we get to see the value of him traveling so much - the plane trip and hotel were completely paid for with points.  Cha-ching!  Rex totally spoiled me too.  The Mariott we stayed in was fit for a king and queen - a humongous tub, fully stocked kitchen, big comfy bed, an amazing breakfast buffet every morning, a tropical paradise of pools and hot tubs and beautiful flowers every where... a girl could get used to this.   We spent the first night and morning cramming in some homework for our scuba-diving certification class.  The next 2 days were spent at the scuba shop and in the ocean, passing off drills and skills needed to not-die.  And good news.  We did not die and completely lost ourselves underwater looking at the beautiful fish and eels and turtles around us.  Okay, just one turtle.  But it was pretty memorable!  I didn...

Mist of Darkness

So now that I have finally caught up with my blogging, I feel that I need to explain where I've been. This blog is mainly for journal purposes, so just ignore this post if it makes you uncomfortable. I've known that I've struggled with depression for five years now. I've been in some dark places in my life with horrible thoughts and temptations, but it's been under control for the most part. I've been "missing" for the past 2 months because I was slowly spiraling downwards without realizing it. True, I never had any suicidal thoughts this last time (maxing out your Zoloft should have SOME kind of effect) but I started losing interest in the things that usually make me happy. Blogging. Creativity. Photography. My family. Sunshine. With the winter, it seemed that everything had turned gray and dead, and not just the plants.       We christened the new van by going on TWO road trips this month. The first was to Oklahoma (and I guess, technically, Branson, MO as well) and the next weekend was to Utah to celebrate Rex's sister's wedding! So so so happy for her and her new hubby.  We got our first picture as a family with EVERYONE wearing a suit, well, except me of course. What handsome men surround me!
