Settling In
This may not seem like a "just moved in" picture, but this particular costume was a "move in" miracle! The NIGHT before we planned to load up the moving truck, Sam realized that he had to dress up as John Glenn for his class's Living Museum the next day. All the clothes and craft materials were packed so I was scrambling to find anything that could remotely be part of an astronaut's suit. I found an empty pretzel container along with some duct tape and painters tape. Done. Astronaut helmet complete. As for the actual astronaut clothes, I got desperate and put out an SOS on Facebook to see if anyone had an astronaut costume. Nothing. It was getting later and I was starting to think that the helmet would have to be enough, when my friend came over to drop off Cooper (she had watched him the whole day for me!) Her daughter walked in with her and - I couldn't believe my eyes - she was wearing astronaut pajamas! Thankfully we were on a close enough basis for me to ask if I could borrow her daughter's pajamas right then and there. I lent her some clothes to wear on the way home and everyone was happy. Hooray for our John Glenn miracle!
My amazing mother came for the first week to help unpack and get everything organized. Cade just couldn't get enough of her, and no matter how many times he asked her to play with him, she would always take a few minutes to give him some attention. And she still got SO MUCH done! How does she do it??
My mom treated us to some ice cream at Smart Cow one night after a chaotic shopping trip to Costco with the boys. I think Sam definitely won the Sugar Creativity award for his concoction!
When Rex came home the weekend after moving in, we settled in to have our first movie night in our new home. Cooper fell asleep on him and I just couldn't resist taking a picture of the sweetness before me. Bath time in our new home is kind of interesting. I can't find the shower curtain hooks for the life of me so the older boys get to shower in our fancy new master bathroom shower while Cade and Cooper take a bath in the tub that can't hold water. (Rex fixed that later.)
