Mom's One Line a Day - JANUARY

OKAY, so while I didn't write down a little sumpin-sumpin EVERY day this month, it's more than I've done in ages.  So here we go:

- Aiden was very tired today, understandable.  Sam gets very cranky when cleaning...wonder which parent he got that from...Cade talks constantly during movies. And Cooper gives me the sweetest little kisses are random times. We cleaned the basement during the day and continues our "Lord of the Rings" movie marathon tonight.

- Today Sam learned what happens when you microwave a bowl of spicy ramen for 5 1/2 minutes... without adding the water.  We caught it right before flames formed, but it was close!  Lots and lots of chokingly spicy smoke billowing out of the microwave.  The house reeks.

- Cooper got to try out his new bike for the first time today.  He was hesitant at first because it's quite a bit bigger than his old bike, but he didn't want to stop once he got going!

- Happy Birthday, Aiden! Even though he's officially a teen, he can still get giddy over our traditional wake-up-to-balloons-on-your-bedroom-floor tradition and being treated to his favorite foods throughout the day: pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches, seared steak, homemade rolls, strawberries and blueberries.

- The boys all got haircuts by an actual hairdresser, and Min was groomed by an actually groomer...all in the same day!  We might actually look presentable now!

- It's been 11 months since Aiden's had a sleepover (thanks to Covid) and he finally had his friend Jack over tonight for his birthday weekend.  Poor boys acted like they needed to get to know each other all over again. This darn pandemic!

- Sam was ordained a deacon today and received the Aaronic priesthood.  As our Bishop said, "He now has more priesthood authority than the Pope, but don't tell him that!" On Sunday mornings, whenever I fix Coopers hair for church, he requests to either look like Aiden (side part) or Sam (spiked up front.)  If they ever change hairstyles, it'll really throw the poor kid off.

- Just learned that ALL my boys were under the impression that, since they all got grown-up electric toothbrushes for Christmas, that toothpaste was no longer necessary.  Where do they come up with this reasoning??

- Found out in the middle of a piano lesson that I was directly exposed to a student with Covid.  Now I'm seeing symptoms in everything and might be freaking out a little.  I'm getting tested tomorrow to put my mind at ease.

- Got tested and kept the kids home from school, well Cade and Cooper.  Aiden and Sam are still full-time remote learning.  WHEN WILL THIS END?

- Made the terrible mistake of daring Sam and myself to eat the "Beanboozled: Naught or Nice" jelly beans tonight.  Is it dog food flavored or chocolate pudding? I DUNNO! They're both brown! It is peach or barf flavored?? I DUNNO! Let's try it! Surely making memories and bonding with your kids doesn't have to trigger your gag reflex so much!

- Well after checking the Covid results website every 15 minutes for the last two days, I finally got my results back. I DON'T HAVE COVID! YAY!!!

- Aiden and Sam both passed the sacrament together for the first time today.  I can't believe that Sam is a deacon now! They looked so handsome and grown-up in their new suits.

Cooper unbuttoned his WHOLE shirt today, too.  He had this reaction after EVERY button:

- As long as Cooper has had head and neck control, he's always had a very dramatic way of crying when I hold him for comfort.  He starts by wailing and throwing his head back then on the next sob, head bangs into my right shoulder.  This is usually followed by more loud sobs and then the final nose/snot rub before coming up for air.  Once his head is out of my shoulder/front armpit, the crying abruptly stops.  If he feels the need for more crying, he repeats the head bang into my shoulder and sobs some more there.

- Aiden had an eye appointment today and got contacts!

- Since a little before Christmas, Cooper has started getting Oral Immunatherapy to get over his peanut allergy.  We are now up to .05 grams of actual peanut.  Go Cooper!  The nurses absolutely LOVE him and he knows it!  He flirts with them the whole time and likes to inform them at the nurse's station every time he goes to the bathroom, as if to prove how mature and old he is. :)
