Out with the Old - In with the New!

Well good grief, I have not blogged in over a YEAR.  On Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, we watch a montage of our home videos and pictures from previous years and I love them so much.  It made me realize that I have not documented hardly anything of Cade and Cooper's early lives.  It's going to be really hard recalling all of the details when I finally get around to doing Cooper's baby book, so I figure it's better to get back on the journaling wagon now at the beginning of the year when I'm fresh and excited for a new year.

2020 will definitely be remembered for some pretty rotten things: Covid-19, social distancing, family-less holidays, wearing masks, virtual meetings galore, crazy politics, remote learning, cleaning supply shortages, toilet paper shortages, and other stuff, but it has been great for reconnecting with my boys and Rex.  Rex hasn't traveled in a year or so and has been such a wonderful support at home for me and the boys.  I believe it has truly strengthened our relationship.

I am excited for 2021.  I know technically, it isn't going to be that much different from last week, but I am going to try to be my best self this year.  I am going to the gym 3 times a week and eating healthier (at least I was before the holidays!) I am going to put my family first, even if that means cutting back on my piano studio business.  I am going to be better about journaling and recording all the insane little details that make up my life.  I live a great life, and I have a TERRIBLE memory, so I really need to document everything so I can always remember how blessed a life I have lived.

So first story of the new year: Sam almost caught the house on fire.  He had a friend over and wanted to cook him a bowl of microwaveable spicy ramen in the morning.  He got out the package, removed the lid, and put the bowl in the microwave....and forgot to add the water.  Five minutes later, a spicy and acrid-smelling smoke starts billowing out of the microwave.  Thankfully it didn't catch fire, but it was probably 5 seconds away from doing so.  The noodles were completely black and instantly boiled water that were poured on them.  The smell is still lingering, even though I've aired out the house and scrubbed the microwave, cupboards, counters, and parts of the ceiling with vinegar water.  Rex even cleaned the carpets downstairs.  But we are blessed that we still have a beautiful home to live in and that the microwave still works!  Bring it on, 2021!
