Two Teeth

On Sunday, Rex casually leans over and says, "Did you know that Sam has two teeth?"
WHAT?!? SAM HAS TWO TEETH!!!
What followed next was an interesting blur of emotions for me:

  • Shock: How in the world could my preemie baby have teeth??
  • Guilt: How could I have missed TWO teeth?? Not just one, but TWO! I'm such a horrible mother!
  • Envy: I can't believe that REX noticed them before me! After all, he's gone all week long and (lovingly said) isn't the most observant guy around...
  • Hate: Yeah, why DID Rex notice them before me? I'm the mother!
  • Acceptance: I guess Sam is 9 months old. It's about time.
  • Love: That IS pretty cool that Rex was able to discover a big milestone on his own. What a good father!
  • Regret: So all those times Sam was crying and chewing on his hands, I just thought he was hungry and popped another bottle in his mouth. I should have been giving him Tylenol! Now he'll grow up to be an obese toddler because his mother fed him too much...
  • Sorrow: My little Sam is growing up! Where did my baby go??
  • Dread: Oh no... now he's one step closer to becoming a toddler...

...and on and on and on....

If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm kind of an emotional/dramatic person who tends to over-worry about trivial things... But back to topic, here's the proof. Who would have known that two, sharp little teeth could cause such emotional distress??

And since he's such a cute, sweet, mellow, and happy baby, here are some pictures just for fun. Nine months old... wow.

Oh, my, what cute little teeth! And what an accurate description of all the emotions that a mother feels each time anything happens at any given time of day.
And what a very very very cute kid. Your kids are just the kind that put a smile on people's faces just by looking awesome.
