Chore Charts

I decided to turn the boys' chore charts they get from Taekwando for "Attitude stripes" into a picture chore chart they can easily understand, since neither reads yet.  I thought I'd share the pictures I took of them doing the various chores because I love to see free manual labor in the works. :)
Clean up toys around the house.

Put dirty clothes in hamper


Brush teeth


Clean up the bathroom

Put away folded clothes


Clean room

Lay out clothes for the next day


Clean up after meals and snacks

Practice Piano (I added that one!)

Make bed



Take a bath

Hang up towel .



Even Cade has wanted in on the chore thing lately.  You might even say he's been very passionate about it too!




They are GREAT boys and are good workers.  They get a dollar every night if they do all the things on their charts.  They wanted to save up to buy these "stuffies" at Target, but when the time came, they bought legos instead. :)

Some Time Away in Paradise

Rex and I went to Maui, Hawaii together, just the two of us!  It's times like this when we get to see the value of him traveling so much - the plane trip and hotel were completely paid for with points.  Cha-ching!  Rex totally spoiled me too.  The Mariott we stayed in was fit for a king and queen - a humongous tub, fully stocked kitchen, big comfy bed, an amazing breakfast buffet every morning, a tropical paradise of pools and hot tubs and beautiful flowers every where... a girl could get used to this.   We spent the first night and morning cramming in some homework for our scuba-diving certification class.  The next 2 days were spent at the scuba shop and in the ocean, passing off drills and skills needed to not-die.  And good news.  We did not die and completely lost ourselves underwater looking at the beautiful fish and eels and turtles around us.  Okay, just one turtle.  But it was pretty memorable!  I didn...

Mist of Darkness

So now that I have finally caught up with my blogging, I feel that I need to explain where I've been. This blog is mainly for journal purposes, so just ignore this post if it makes you uncomfortable. I've known that I've struggled with depression for five years now. I've been in some dark places in my life with horrible thoughts and temptations, but it's been under control for the most part. I've been "missing" for the past 2 months because I was slowly spiraling downwards without realizing it. True, I never had any suicidal thoughts this last time (maxing out your Zoloft should have SOME kind of effect) but I started losing interest in the things that usually make me happy. Blogging. Creativity. Photography. My family. Sunshine. With the winter, it seemed that everything had turned gray and dead, and not just the plants. Surrounded by Handsomeness

      We christened the new van by going on TWO road trips this month. The first was to Oklahoma (and I guess, technically, Branson, MO as well) and the next weekend was to Utah to celebrate Rex's sister's wedding! So so so happy for her and her new hubby.  We got our first picture as a family with EVERYONE wearing a suit, well, except me of course. What handsome men surround me!
