The Month of May

Slowly but surely I'm trying to catch up on this blog! Augh! And these kids just keep getting cuter and cuter and it's so hard to keep up with it all!  But I love it and I love them, so bear with me. :)

See what I mean about CUTE???  My mom came to help out with the kiddos for a bit during May.  The boys absolutely love her.  Cade snuggled right up (and was good as long as he didn't see me... silly boy) while Sam made himself comfy and played with Gwamma's hair.  It was so adorable - I couldn't resist the urge to snap away!



My mom was there to capture how story time usually goes these days with a toddler again.  Cade climbs over all of us and does his best to distract us from the book. ;)

Rex went in to have weight loss Bariatric surgery this month as well.  Here he is pre-op and charming as ever.  Rex is the best patient, I've decided.  Even when he was in the recovery room and groggy, he was still trying to help solve our tech problems. :)  He's doing awesome now and has lost about 60 pounds in just 3 months.  He has more energy and is looking sexier than ever. :-) I'm so proud of him.



On Memorial Day, I did a few projects that I've been putting off for ... ahem... years... and I FINALLY got this wooden bench kit out of the garage, spray painted it, and assembled it.  I just love it!  I can usually peek out my kitchen window and see random neighborhood kids sitting on it.  So cute. :)



Once I had the bench finished, I gave our front yard a face lift by tearing out the half-dead monster bush and planting Hostas around the steps.  I also took a leap of faith and tried my hand at growing rose bushes in pots.  Hope they last!!

And this is what I felt like doing once Memorial Day was over! I just love and adore this little guy!

Oooo! I hope your roses thrive! You'll have to tell me how it goes and how you tend them.

Those pictures of the boys with mom are toooooooo presh for words! Sam is a total Gwamma's Guy!

Some Time Away in Paradise

Rex and I went to Maui, Hawaii together, just the two of us!  It's times like this when we get to see the value of him traveling so much - the plane trip and hotel were completely paid for with points.  Cha-ching!  Rex totally spoiled me too.  The Mariott we stayed in was fit for a king and queen - a humongous tub, fully stocked kitchen, big comfy bed, an amazing breakfast buffet every morning, a tropical paradise of pools and hot tubs and beautiful flowers every where... a girl could get used to this.   We spent the first night and morning cramming in some homework for our scuba-diving certification class.  The next 2 days were spent at the scuba shop and in the ocean, passing off drills and skills needed to not-die.  And good news.  We did not die and completely lost ourselves underwater looking at the beautiful fish and eels and turtles around us.  Okay, just one turtle.  But it was pretty memorable!  I didn...

So now that I have finally caught up with my blogging, I feel that I need to explain where I've been. This blog is mainly for journal purposes, so just ignore this post if it makes you uncomfortable. I've known that I've struggled with depression for five years now. I've been in some dark places in my life with horrible thoughts and temptations, but it's been under control for the most part. I've been "missing" for the past 2 months because I was slowly spiraling downwards without realizing it. True, I never had any suicidal thoughts this last time (maxing out your Zoloft should have SOME kind of effect) but I started losing interest in the things that usually make me happy. Blogging. Creativity. Photography. My family. Sunshine. With the winter, it seemed that everything had turned gray and dead, and not just the plants. Surrounded by Handsomeness

      We christened the new van by going on TWO road trips this month. The first was to Oklahoma (and I guess, technically, Branson, MO as well) and the next weekend was to Utah to celebrate Rex's sister's wedding! So so so happy for her and her new hubby.  We got our first picture as a family with EVERYONE wearing a suit, well, except me of course. What handsome men surround me!
