MOM'S ONE LINE A DAY
September:
1 - We woke up super early this morning and drove to Colorado Springs' Hot Air Balloon Festival! Cade was jumping up and down yelling "WHOA!" and pointing at the balloons when they inflated. He has a balloon fetish as it is, so his mind was BLOWN.
We drove through Garden of the Gods afterwards and walked around Balancing Rock.
2 - Sam came home with a fundraiser magazine and showed me what prize he wanted. I showed him he could just buy the prize online with his allowance money. (I don't like these kind of fundraisers.. bad mom and citizen, I know.) For Sam's dinner prayer that night, he said, "...And thank you that the brown guy (UPS man) will bring my angry bird plane. It'th really cool. Amen."
3 - After family prayer, we say personal prayer that the boys whisper to themselves. Aiden finished early and saw me saying a prayer to myself silently. He crawled up next to me and stuck his ear over my mouth to try and listen in. hahaha. I opened my eyes and burst out laughing.
4 - We got Aiden a bedwetting alarm to wear to bed to hopefully night train him. I was a little nervous thinking that he would hate it, but he was SO excited. It was like Christmas for him! He couldn't stop moving around with excitement when I was hooking him up and he wanted to test it out (with water) first.
5 - Cade throws some hilarious temper tantrums. Being a toddler is so rough - you can't throw food at mom; you can't color on the piano; you can't step on your brother's head... the world is SO UNFAIR!! ;-)
It takes Cade a good 15 seconds of frozen, silent crying before anything comes out. So sad, but hilarious.
6 - Whenever Cade wants you to take him somewhere specific, he'll climb into your lap, pulls on your shoulders signaling you to stand up, and then steers you by pushing on one shoulder and pulling on the other. It's, surprisingly, a very efficient system.
7 - Sam has some funny logic, and I don't always understand what he means. It's even worse when after every other spout of "wisdom" he says, "Right, Mom?" (even if he wasn't talking to me directly.) I'm sure I've confirmed some pretty false ideas on accident. (i.e. "If you race a car REALLY fast it will start flying. Right, Mom?" said with incredibly wide open eyes.)
8- Cade likes to practice his yells in the car (and they are IMPRESSIVE yells) followed by him putting his finger over his mouth and shh-ing. Over and over and over again.
9 - Sam: Aiden, I want you to play legos with me.
Aiden: It's okay, Sam. God will help you.
Sam: No, He cant!
Aiden: Yes He can. If you pray, He'll help you find the right piece.
Sam: GOD CAN'T PICK UP LEGOS!!!!!!
10 - In Aiden's prayer: "And please bless Sam that he can be as good and kind as me..." Aiden is going through a "holier than thou art" phase and we need to nip it in the bud! After the prayer, Sam says, "Aiden, you forgot to say you love Sam the most!" Good thing Sam didn't take it personally.
11 - I went jeans shopping with Annika this morning. It's so fun having a girlfriend! I'm sure going to miss her when she moves next week... :-(
12 - Ate lunch in the school cafeteria with the boys today. Aiden was the perfect host by helping me choose between white or chocolate milk; showing me where to put the ketchup on my tray; and informing me of the "one veggie and one fruit ONLY!" rule. :-)
13 - Had a blast at the rec center pool with the boys, Rex, and Annika and her kids. Cade has absolutely no fear of the water and had to be rescued several times. Nothing serious though.
14 - During Sacrament meeting today, Aiden started praying to himself. (not normal by any means.) Rex overheard him say, "Please help Sam to stop talking." hahaha. He was making just as much noise with his prayer! At least he's appyling what he's learning - we just have to work on the humility part.
15 - It is nearly impossible to fold clothes with Cade around. At leasr I got a good chuckle in when he was sitting in the laundry basket with a gift bag for a hat. I took a picture and showed Aiden and Sam it after school. They got some good belly laughs in as well.
16 - I thought today was my dad's birthday - I even asked Monica to make sure. I threw her into a panic because she had forgotten too. When I finally got around to face-timing a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" chorus from the kids and me, he said we sounded great but got the month wrong. I about laughed my head off. Turns out Monica sang to him as well. hahahaha
17 - Fun day today - Sam got to spend his allowance money at Walmart. He chose a small lego kit, 2 suckers for himself and Aiden, and some random junk in the coin machines. I also got to observe Aiden in his private reading lesson at school. He was SO CUTE with his giggles and eagerness to please. He LOVES it and has come leaps and bounds since starting! He went from not even wanting to hold a pencil, to writing and reading anything he can!
18 - Took the boys to the dentist, got haircuts, and got their Halloween costumes all in one outing. Aiden wants to be the Hulk, even though Sam did that last year. I think he feels gypped for being Captain America last year. hehehe
19 - Spent a wonderful day in the mountains with Rex and the boys driving to Tarryall.
25 - Sam to Grandpa Tricks: "If you choose the left, you go to the dark side." Right mom??
Cade loves Grandma Dixie's chocolate cupcakes!
Sam went to a superhero birthday party where he was the only HULK!
The teeny tiny pumpkin plant I planted in the summertime not only took over my whole garden, but the lilac bush in the ditch as well! I was so surprised to find a pumpkin growing down there! And even more surprised to find that the pumpkin vine grew itself OVER the fence into the field behind us!! At least we got three pumpkins out of it for each of our boys for Halloween this year!
Heck, all my boys are nuts!!
Cade doesn't let size hold him back from wrestling with his brothers!
I heard the boys sneak out of bed one night and was about to get really mad at them, until I saw that they had both come down to finish practicing their piano. I was literally speechless.
We enjoyed the last popsicles of the season.
Some friends of ours gave us their elliptical, which the boys promptly put about a marathon's worth of wear and tear on before Rex and I even got to it.
Sam is a closet popsicle eater sometimes. I'll catch him all by himself sneaking a popsicle, cuddled up in some chair while soaking in the sunshine.
While the boys are in Taekwando, Cade and I walk laps around the outside of the building to pass the time. If we try to wait inside, Cade finds a way to break into the Dojang and take over the lessons. At least he's cute.
And speaking of Taekwando, Aiden and Sam earned their green belts! (Well, they're still white belts technically, but they've broken up the program to varying levels of white.) Go BOYS!!!
