One Line a Day - October
2 - Had to convince Aiden it was better to pray for change in yourself than others after a full week of him praying that "Sam will stop being a pest and being bad."
3 - Sam has been having a hard time being good at school. I'm trying to teach him the difference between being silly-good, silly-bad, and dangerous. He gets all of those ideas confused. "Sam, what do you think throwing rocks at friends at recess is: silly-good, silly-bad, or dangerous?" "Ummmm, silly-good?" I have to start from scratch with this kid! Oy
4 - Cade wants so badly to sit in the back of the van with his brothers. It's become a game for him to have me chase and wrangle him out of the back every time we get in the van.
5 - While President Monson was speaking during General COnference today, we asked Aiden, "Do you know who that is?" He said, "Yes, it's General Conference." hahaha I guess we have been saying "We're going to listen to General Conference" all week. I should have clarified that wasn't a name of a person.
6 - I'm starting the "Feel Great in Eight" program again. I'd probably be feeling more great if Cade hadn't screamed in my ears all day and wanted me to hold him. At least I know I'm loved.
7 - Had a moment of panic when Aiden lost a tooth today and realized we ran out of dollar coins. We made it to the bank 10 minutes before closing. I pretended like all I was doing was depositing a check into the tube sucky thing and leaned out the window so I could whisper to the intercom lady that I needed dollar coins. She knew exactly what was going on and returned the cannister with the dollar coins and three lollipops. :)
8 - Aiden is doing so well learning to read! He loves school this year, much to my relief and astonishment. After Sam had been pestering him he said, "I wish I was back at school!"
9 - New rule of the house: NO MORE FART NOISES
11 - Went to see Blue Man Group today with the boys (minus Cade.) It was SO COOL and the boys loved it! Now they keep asking us to play the "blue man group song" (Shake Your Euphemism) whenever we get in the van.
13 - Drove to Utah with the boys and me to visit Monica's family. They did great, until we actually got to Monica's house. Within the first 15 minutes, I was getting on to them for jumping on her couches and coffee table, throwing bouncy balls at their TV, and then I hear a blood curdling scream upstairs followed by gasps and sobs. Turns out Aiden had set a booby trap with a bungee cord on their bedroom door. When he went to see if it would work, it did! Quite successfully in fact. It whacked him in the throat, which caused him to not be able to breathe for a bit, which made him panic, scream, and cry (where I come in) which THEN caused him to vomit up all of the goldfish crackers and craisins he had just eaten in the car. Thankfully I ran him to the toilet in time. Oy. All this within the first 15 minutes of being guests here. I think that's a new record.
14 - Aiden: (directed at me) "How do you spell 'communicate'?"
Sam: (said matter-of-factly) "C, R, H"
15 - Drove home early from Mo's house because Cade would not sleep and was making me miserable. Thankfully, the drive went smoothly and the boys were content the whole time.
17 - Spent a big portion of my night with Cade and his croup. Rex gave him a blessing. I am so blessed to lhive in a time of medicine and an era of God's miracles on the earth.
18 - Went on a hike with Rex and the boys today at Castlewood Canyon. I have a horrible sense of direction but at least we didn't get lost, Sam lost his backpack that he said just "dithappeared" off his back. Magically. At the halfway point, we stopped at an abandoned homestead that the boys liked exploring. Awesome day.
19 - I have the best husband ever. Rex is always so selfless and helpful. He helps clean the kitchen after I make a mess with no complaint. He read to the boys and teaches them good values. I couldn't ask for better!
20 - Ever since Sam woke up from a nightmare sobbing, "I just want to be a good boy!" he's been wonderful! He stayed on green at school today, was kind to Cade, obeyed, and was eager to please. Whatever that nightmare was, it sure scared him good!
21 - Cade is starting to say more and more words. He knows "shoes" "Chee!" (cheese), "Hi!" "Mee-oh?" (more), "dee-doo" (thank you), "oop!" (poop), and of course "mom" and "da" He copies his brothers and said, "boo to you" when they were reading some halloween decor.
22 - Overhearing Sam doing his piano practicing sounds like this: "D-2-fwee, D-2-fwee, E-fwat-2-fwee, C-2-fwee!" (He's counting out the notes. "D-2-3, D-2-3, Eb-2-3, C-2-3) I love how he talks.

23 - Went on a 5 mile hike this morning with Cade. Beautiful. Exhausted.
25 - Spent almost all day in bed sick. Thank heavens I have an amazing husband who lets me do that and handles everything else with no complaint.
27 - Aiden woke me up by saying he had my cereal and milk all ready for me on the kitchen table. SO SWEET!
28 - Well I hit milestone in my motherly career. I locked my keys in the car with Cade buckled in. Thankfully it was on our way out from the house and were still in the garage with spare keys inside!
29 - Ward Trunk or Treat party tonight. Super fun. Cade has turned into a candy monster. At the near sight of candy, he refuses to eat anything else. And when you object and tell him no... oh boy... let the tantrums begin!
30 - As if the mornings aren't crazy enough scrambling to get out the door on time, Cade decides to pour a cup of water inside Aiden's only pair of tennis shoes before Aiden had a chance to put them on.
31 - Aiden was the Hulk; Sam a Ninja; and Cade was Luigi. Three adorable boys on sugar highs.

And a bit of November:
1 - While playing outside, Sam walks up to me and says, "Mommy, I made a mistake." When I look more closely at him, he has kite string cinched around his waist about 20 times. Being a mommy is saving your kids from themselves!
2 - Before church, we watched an "Abraham and Isaac" movie. In the part when Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, I noticed Aiden wiping tears from his eyes. I snuggled up with him and had a good, sweet cat about the story. Aiden has such a tender heart.
3 - Aiden: "Mom, whats two plus six?"
Me: "Eight"
Aiden: (surprised)... correct!
He just lost at "Stump the Mom"

4 - At school they've been learning about recycling, so when Aiden cam home from school, he collected some paper plates and plastic cups and went to work. Aiden made - of all things - a toilet made out of recyclables WITH an instruction manual on how to make your own. And he couldn't be prouder.
5 - Sam stayed on green today in school. Yay!! That's a full week of greens! I hope this means he's getting used to kindergarten.
6 - I passed a football in the dollar section at Michael's today and handed it to Sam to see if he liked it (trying to get ideas for Christmas presents.) He held it and stared blankly. Then he asks, "What do I do with it?" oh dear...
7 - The boys are cute. My husband is wonderful. And i'm tired. Good night!

We passed some BEAUTIFUL rest stops on the way to Utah.

Every morning, Monica and Emy put on makeup together (or at least play with it) while listening to "All ABout Dat Bass" SO CUTE!
