A Problem: With a Capital PEE

While visiting my parents in Oklahoma, we often play outside in their big backyard or swimming pool most of the day.  When nature calls, it's become common for the boy cousins to go pee in a patch of grass.  No biggy, right?  No one's around to really see anything and it's a long walk to the house bathroom anyways.

It wasn't a Pee-roblem, until it followed us home to our duplex-dominant neighborhood with houses and neighbors pretty close together.

The first time Aiden peed in our front yard we quickly had the talk that he should use the potty.  (Side note: When Aiden pees outside or anywhere really, he hasn't figured out how to be discreet.  Pants and undies drop to his ankles so EVERYTHING is exposed.) Things got under control for the most part after I kept a close watch on him during play time and made sure to whisk him off to the potty when he showed signs of a full bladder.

A couple months ago I went to a digital scrapbooking party at my mother-in-law's house along with several of her friends and co-workers.  After chatting away and working on our laptops, I looked over to see Aiden peeing off the balcony in plain view of everyone in the kitchen, not to mention the busy road that  borders their backyard.  We all had a pretty good laugh about it after I covered him up, but red flags were popping up in my head and knew that this Problem wasn't going away.

The last straw happened when we had to leave early from church a couple Sundays ago.  Rex put Aiden in the car then went back in the church to find me.  When Rex was walking back to the van, he saw Aiden scamper out of the van door, cross the parking lot, pull his pants down, and started peeing in the MIDDLE of the church parking lot.

Rex had a good talking-to with him and explained that peeing outside just isn't acceptable behavior.  Aiden was really confused because why would it be okay in Oklahoma and not in the church parking lot??  Darn this kid's logic.  I'd like to say that things have gotten better.  They haven't gotten worse - I don't think you can beat the church parking lot - but the jury's still out until a year has passed of good peeing behavior.

Ha Ha Ha! I've been through the exact same thing . . . and yes, it can get worse--Carson used to pee EVERYWHERE and even tried to do it in the AISLE during Sacrament meeting! I look over and there he is--standing in the opposite aisle with his pants around his ankles--
The worst, though, was once he POOPed on the front porch because he was "a doggie!" . . . just moments before my piano student showed up:) Don't worry--he'll grow out of it eventually--just keep trying to laugh about it (when he's not watching, of course!).

Hahaha! Matthew's had a hard time with that since moving here (we're in a duplex here, in town). Before we were in the country and he would often pee in the forest at the edge of the lawn. Luckily he seems to finally understand that it's different here...
