Mom's One Line A Day - April
1 - Now that Sam can buckle his own seat-belt, he can sit in the backseat with Aiden. Sam was simply beaming with pride when he sat back there for the first time.
2 - Aiden asked Rex for a shovel. When Rex asked why, Aiden said so he could dig for ore in the backyard and make some armor. I think he's been playing too much Minecraft lately.
3 - Somehow the topic of me being afraid of dinosaurs and zombies came up. Aiden kept trying to persuade me that I was just wasn't being brave enough. "But I just don't like them, Aiden!" "Be brave, mom!" I felt a little silly trying to defend my fears to a five year old.
4 - Cade stuck his toes in his mouth. SO CUTE!! He's also learned to blow raspberries. Drooly but still cute!
5 - The boys love showing Cade how to play with toys and make him laugh. They repeatedly say, "He likes me!" when Cade smiles at them. I make sure to compliment them and tell them what good big brothers they are.
6 - Went to a fancy lunch with Rex and his career counselor Jenna. I am SO grateful for people like her who have helped Rex in his career..... also grateful for babysitters. I went through 12 people before I got a yes! ugh...
7 - Sam had a mommy day. I didn't realize it until later, but he went out of his way to make sure I spent time with him. We did a puzzle together; we sat together for meals; and he even wanted me to put his lotion on after bath time.
8 - General Conference was today. When we told Aiden that the prophet was speaking to us, I think he thought it was Face Time (used by the iPhone) on the TV because when President Monson wouls ask rhetorical questions like, "Where can we find peace in this world?" Aiden would stare at the screen, shake his head, and earnestly say, "I don't know. Tell me."
9 - Sam lives in a fantasy land. Aiden got mad at him for tearing up his lego instructions. I asked Sam why he did it, and he tearfully said that he was just being a monster. It's almost like he snaps out of his imaginative play to find that he accidentally did something bad.
10 - Aiden's prayer tonight at dinner: "Dear Heavenly Father. I want Jesus to take away my nightmares. I just... just... (then yelling) JUST DO IT!" I didn't know whether to laugh, counsel, or comfort first!
11 - Aiden told me he has a girlfriend at school named Ava. When we got to his school, he runs up to a group of girls, studies them for a minute, then asks one of them, "Are YOU Ava??" Learning young...
12 - I didn't spend a lot of time the kids today. Instead I made a bunch of freezer meals. How is it that I feel guilty no matter what I do?? Even when it's something good?
13 - Sam punched a hole in the wall this past week with one of my weights. Rex made Sam help him patch the wall. I'm still not sure who's punishment that really was...
14 - I had the BEST time in primary doing singing time today! It is truly my calling in life.
15 - Getting stressed out about advertising for my summer piano classes. Starting a new business is hard. I'm just glad I don't depend on this for our main source of income!
16 - Tough, tired night with the boys. You know you made your point across when you hear them crying, "I want my daddy!" and "Mommy is mean!!"
17 - Sam tooted in the middle of his prayer while I was prompting him.
Me: We're thankful for our family...
Aiden: Who tooted?
Sam: Thankful for...it was me, Aiden!
Me: (ignoring the interruption) Please bless Daddy
Aiden: Gross!
Sam: Please bless gross.
(lots of giggles)
18 - Talk about a GREAT business day! I may have 8 new potential students and got 40 likes on my Facebook page. I'm so excited!
19 - While eating hot dogs at Costco today, we found out the little girl next to us was having a birthday. Aiden told her "Happy Birthday" then put his hands on her cheeks, puckered up, and kissed her right on the lips. It was simply adorable.
20 - Aiden: Mom, what day is it?
Me: It's Saturday
Aiden: (yelling) DAD! IT'S STILL SATURDAY!!!
21 - We had to have a talk with Aiden about personal space. Turns out he was kissing all the girls at church today... hehehe
22 - Took all 3 boys with me to the dentist while I got my teeth cleaned. Couldn't get a sitter. Surprisingly it went smoothly. Thank goodness for Legos and the Disney Channel.
23 - Sam: Mom, look at my new friend! (holding up a Lego creation)
Me: Cool, Sam! What's his name?
Sam: Lickin' Sugar
hmmm, what have you been up to Mister??

24 - Sam is very good at drawing and really loves doing it. He brought me one of his works of art and told me that it was a rocket ship. Above it he had practiced writing some letters. I said, "Cool Sam! You spelled the word, "FOOX!" Annoyed, he correct me, "No Mom. It says Rock-Et-SHIP!" while pointing to each of the letters. Such a cute kid.
25 - As I was getting ready to hop into bed, I hear a little whimper and Sam's voice saying, "Help me..." I figured he was just sleep talking but checked on him anyways. Turns out he was hanging over the side of his bed half-asleep and couldn't get back up. :)
26 - I'm doing something new and am selling music sheet wreaths at a Barn Sale Boutique today and tomorrow! I'm having a blast!
27 - All done with the boutique and only sold one wreath. Not sure it was worth it, but at least it was fun!
28 - Rex let me take a 2 hour nap while he did the dishes and some laundry. LOVE THAT MAN!
29 - I got a new babysitter for the boys while I teach piano. His name is Jeremy, which Sam has a heard time saying. It sounds like he's calling him "Germy." :)
30 - Proof that Aiden is my son.
Sam (to Aiden): Are-you-okay-sorry. (the standard apology in our house)
Aiden: My name's not SORRY!
