Here's the Torrie Clan for 2012.  Next time we take this picture, we'll have two more grandkids in the picture!

 

We wanted to get a picture of all 5 grandkids together in their adorable bowties.  But, as you can see, that was near impossible.  Everyone was cracking up laughing while I was trying to take their picture.  At the time, I was just plain irritated.  I'll chalk it up to hormones.  I guess I can see the humor in it now. :)
 

Miles kept turning around and walking away.  Notice Sam forcibly trying to stop Miles from going in this picture. :) Also, Kimmi must have found an ant or something.
 

And once we get ONE good picture of Miles not escaping, everyone else is looking away while Cade is crying.  Oh kids... I could never be a child photographer.

 

That night Aiden and Austin treated us all to their Special Invention Presentation.  They were so proud of their work and were especially excited when Uncle Mark PAID them a dollar each to see their show. :)


Everyone left the day after Thanksgiving except for Monica and Mason.  Since we had to jet after the photo shoot due to Cade crying, Mason took our family pictures the next day.  Thanks, Mas!!

Some Time Away in Paradise

Rex and I went to Maui, Hawaii together, just the two of us!  It's times like this when we get to see the value of him traveling so much - the plane trip and hotel were completely paid for with points.  Cha-ching!  Rex totally spoiled me too.  The Mariott we stayed in was fit for a king and queen - a humongous tub, fully stocked kitchen, big comfy bed, an amazing breakfast buffet every morning, a tropical paradise of pools and hot tubs and beautiful flowers every where... a girl could get used to this.   We spent the first night and morning cramming in some homework for our scuba-diving certification class.  The next 2 days were spent at the scuba shop and in the ocean, passing off drills and skills needed to not-die.  And good news.  We did not die and completely lost ourselves underwater looking at the beautiful fish and eels and turtles around us.  Okay, just one turtle.  But it was pretty memorable!  I didn...

So now that I have finally caught up with my blogging, I feel that I need to explain where I've been. This blog is mainly for journal purposes, so just ignore this post if it makes you uncomfortable. I've known that I've struggled with depression for five years now. I've been in some dark places in my life with horrible thoughts and temptations, but it's been under control for the most part. I've been "missing" for the past 2 months because I was slowly spiraling downwards without realizing it. True, I never had any suicidal thoughts this last time (maxing out your Zoloft should have SOME kind of effect) but I started losing interest in the things that usually make me happy. Blogging. Creativity. Photography. My family. Sunshine. With the winter, it seemed that everything had turned gray and dead, and not just the plants. Surrounded by Handsomeness

      We christened the new van by going on TWO road trips this month. The first was to Oklahoma (and I guess, technically, Branson, MO as well) and the next weekend was to Utah to celebrate Rex's sister's wedding! So so so happy for her and her new hubby.  We got our first picture as a family with EVERYONE wearing a suit, well, except me of course. What handsome men surround me!
